Courses

The IAHD has a variety of training programs to offer. Not only for the disabled but also for experienced scuba divers and non diving family or friends who would like to assist with the diving activities.

Because of the wide variety of disabilities that one may encounter when training disabled divers and as all training is performance based, achievement of all, or part of the required objectives will determine the added safety measures that will be required of the individual.  Dive training times will vary.

Experinece Scuba The IAHD Experience Scuba is not a course, but an introduction program towards scuba diving. Doing an introduction dive is highly recommended and often a very good way to experience what it is to go scuba diving. This introduction dive is being conducted by an IAHD professional in very shallow water (6 feet / 2 meters) and takes about 30 minutes.

Confined Water Diver The IAHD Confined Water Diver course (CWD) is an entry-level programme in scuba diving, which provides elemental knowledge and skills for safely diving in a confined water environment. The course is performance based; participants must satisfactorily complete all academic and water-skills requirements for the level to which they will be certified. All skills are designed to be logical, realistic and apply to practical diving situations.

Sport Dive The IAHD Sport Diver course is an entry-level programme in scuba diving, which provides elemental knowledge and skills for safely diving in an open water environment under direct supervision of a scuba instructor. The course is performance based; participants must satisfactorily complete all academic and water-skills requirements for the level to which they will be certified. All skills are designed to be logical, realistic and apply to practical diving situations.

Open Water Diver The IAHD Open Water Diver course (OWD) is an entry level programme in scuba diving, which provides elemental knowledge and skills for safely diving in an open water environment. The course is performance based; participants must satisfactorily complete all academic and water-skills requirements for the level to which they will be certified. All skills are designed to be logical, realistic and apply to practical diving situations.

Advanced Open Water Diver The Advanced Open Water Diver program is your way forward into scuba diving. Together with your instructor you can choose new scuba activities or environments and learn how to enjoy them.

Experienced Diver After completing your Advanced Open Water training you discovered some scuba activities you realy enjoyed. Now is the time to learn all there is to learn about these activities and practice your skills in the water. Your instructor can help you to make a program that covers your fields of interest.

Nitrox 36% The IAHD nitrox 36% training program is an introduction program towards the use of Enriched Air Nitrox with an oxygen percentage of 36%. It is highly recommended for disabled divers to use nitrox 36% during their open water dives. Due to the higher oxygen percentage the intake of nitrogen will be reduced. This will create an improved safety margin towards Decompression Sickness. There is no requirement to be a certified diver before using nitrox 36%.

Dive Partner The IAHD Dive partner program is for experienced scuba divers (minimum rescue diver) who wish to dive with a disabled diver. In the progra you learn when to assist and when to wait. A level 2 diver must dive with a minimum of 2 divers, one trained as Dive partner. You will soon discover a new experience while scuba diving.

Surface Support Specilist This is a non-diving level of certification and especially designed for people who want to be involved with disabled scuba diving, except diving itself. The Surface Support Specialist can assist the diver with the preparations prior to the dive, to prepare a dive plan, helping to build up the dive set, etc.. All tasks and actions along the ‘water line' except scuba diving itself. Thus, also assisting after the dive. This course is ideal for family and friends that want to help and be part of the dive team, but do not want to get ‘wet'. The course takes approximately four hours.

Pirate Fish (kids) The Pirate Fish program is specialy made for those of young age or mind. This pool based program allows them to discover scuba diving while being challenged with small tasks in each dive. The interactive program is a wonderful experience and gives lots of fun to the participants and Instructors alike.
